How do we do nature-based therapy?
Nature therapy allows us to use any modality of psychotherapy or counselling that we would use in an office and apply it in a natural setting. Doing counselling in nature allows for the influence of a therapeutic environment to add to the impact of the therapeutic interventions themselves. At Outer Coast Therapy, we meet you in a local park, forest or beach for your therapy session where we can be still, walk and talk or use experiential therapeutic techniques that bring the environment into our work.
Where Do We Do Nature Therapy?
Most of our sessions occur at Colliery Dams Park or Morrell Nature Sanctuary, but can also happen at Linley Valley / Cottle Lake or Witchcraft Lake. If you have a special place you’d like to meet, ask and we’ll see if we can make it happen. We do not have an office location, so we do sessions outdoors unless conditions would make it unsafe to do so. If you prefer not to meet outside due to the weather, we can meet virtually.
